While selling at the tailgate, we were introduced to Kelsie Wallich. She is involved with Colleges against Cancer here at JMU. We talked with her and decided we would sell at their event on the commons and sell breast cancer awareness flowers. Monday the 15th, we went to the commons to sell. This was not a successful business relationship for the following reasons:
  • Rainy weather the day of sales
  • The Colleges against Cancer organization had so many girls helping out that our sales got somewhat shoved to the side
  • They were handing out free items and we were charging
Even though this event was not a success, we made a new relationship later that day. The JMU bookstore has agreed to sell our flowers! We will update bookstore details in a later blog.

Parents weekend game was a total success!! We began by thinking we would just set up a table and sell from that. However, we couldnt find a parking spot in any of the large tailgating lots. This ended up being a good thing because walking from tailgate to tailgate definitely proved to be the most successful method. Parents seemed to be our largest customer which wasnt what we had expected. After this discovery, we definitely plan to sell at the homecoming game. Each group member made 20 flowers throughout the week and we had some flowers leftover. We went to the game with around 70 flowers and left with about 9. Over $250 in sales! Tailgating sales has been our biggest success yet!
